God is really working in amazing, amazing ways. It has been 31 years when He started His church in Barangay Guinhawa. Since then, the small church that we are has been feeling so big and so special in His eyes.
Let the poor say “I am rich!” Guinhawa Bible Church is located at Barangay Guinhawa in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro. It has more or less a hundred members, of which majority are farmers of palay, bananas, and vegetables. Admittedly, GBC does not always have a rising tithe meter. But His grace is always sufficient for us. We feel rich. We are rich. By His blessings, GBC has built a concrete building in 1994, which was equipped with the 2nd floor in 1996; a new drum set was bought in 1998, probably one of the first drum sets in ABCCOM (and probably one of the oldests, too! Hehe); a sound system was given in 2008; and a multi-media projector was just recently provided by someone generous. These are just some.
Let the weak say “I am strong!” To the world, we may be nothing but a small church placed at the center of the least popular barangay in town. We are in “holand”, they would say. We are practically weak and almost trembling. But His power is made perfect in our weakness. By His grace and for His glory, GBC was able to host the Eddie Mesa Concert in 1992, the Christmas Cantata in 1997, the Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament with PBA Player Freddie Hubalde as guest in 1998, the PAPURI Concert in 1999, and Let’s PLAY Sports Fest in 2011 and 2012; a daughter church was planted in 1998; the CAP loan was fully-paid in 2005; GBC is entrusted to host ABCCOM events from time-to-time. These are His present-day miracles.
Walking Worthy of Our Calling. This isn’t just a theme for the sake of the celebration. This is a goal. The truth is, God does not need us to be rich and strong. If we will exceed in something, let it be in our walking with God. He wants us to live this life faithful and worthy of the calling we have received.
